Make Your Mark Bookmark Contest – Utah students in kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to design a bookmark to be submitted to the Utah Educational Savings Plan (UESP) “Make Your Mark” 2011 contest.  UESP and Zions Bank will award a total of eight $1,000 UESP college savings certificates.  The certificates will be awarded to two 9th through 12th grade students.  The bookmark designs must be submitted on the official UESP and Zions Bank entry form (available at www.uesp.org/bookmark).   Any medium can be used.  Entries not on the official entry form will not be considered.  Contest will occur September 1-30, 2011.  Deadline:  September 30, 2011.

Sons of Utah Pioneers -Available to young women and men graduating high school during the 20011-2012 school year. Must have values associated with the early Pioneers such as; Faith in God, Devotion to family, Loyalty to Church and Country, Hard Working, Service Oriented, Exhibit Personal Integrity. Special consideration will be given those that have overcome a major adversity in their lives. Must have a 3.0 GPA or greater. Must complete a short essay about themselves and the way they demonstrate Pioneer values in their lives. FCCLA Fall Leadership

Education students attended the FCCLA Fall Leadership Conference and heard from a number of excellent speakers. The Keynote speaker was Brooke Walker, KSL News Anchor, who spoke about the importance and responsibility of being a leader.

JATC Student Ambassadors attended the 12th Annual Leadership Conference at Utah Valley University, CHOICE : The Catalyst of Character.

The keynote speaker was Sean Covey, author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens and the 6 Most Important Decisions You’ll Ever Make. He addressed the critical choices that teens face today, and how they can apply the 7 Habits to unleash their individual greatness. The keynote was followed by a number of breakout sessions.

We are looking forward to the great things ambassadors are planning for the 2011-2012 school year
